This huge Power plant in Port du Rhin South Strasbourg, had a long story. In function until 80's, then rent to a garage owner who used parts of it to stock unrepairable cars and a huge amount of tires, the site was dismantled slowly and huge engines sold for the metal weight. In 2003, a fire broke out in the tires, all the building suffered a lot from it, but Électricité de France put the garage owner on trial and recovered the site.
The fire had put everywhere a black coal colour, and the insulation of the vapour tubes had spread everywhere its asbestos dust... All that gives the plant such a strange look... When the sun comes in in its winter course, all the inside became coloured in a strange blue that gives this site a very strange and poetic look.
Nowadays, it is under dismantling, huge extractors are pumping night and day the asbestos, and it will be totally destructed.
